California state lawmakers have ignited a firestorm with their introduction of a bill that seeks to ban parental notification when children express gender dysphoria. This legislation (AB1955), fronted by Rep. Chris Ward of San Diego, who recently announced his candidacy for the Governorship in 2026, attempts to override the constitutionally protected, fundamental medical decision-making rights of parents by declaring these children as ‘transgender’ and entitled to privacy from those who are legally and morally responsible for them. 

Stop Lawmakers from Cancelling Parental Rights and Notifications!

According to Ward, the measure also seeks to shield teachers from retaliation for promoting and supporting gender dysmorphia and secrecy, claiming to provide resources for families. In reality, it strips parents of their right to be informed and involved in critical decisions affecting their children's well-being. This deception endangers children by allowing potential groomers to influence them without parental oversight under the guise of privacy and protection.

This brazen move stands in stark opposition to the beliefs of over two-thirds of Californians who support parental rights and the right to be notified. It’s a clear indication that Rep. Ward and fellow Democrats have no respect for the parents of California.

More than a dozen school districts have already considered or passed policies requiring parental notification if a child expresses gender curiosity, likely due to unsanctioned inspiration by teachers and faculty. This legislation attempts to intimidate and prevent your elected School Board members from exercising discretion and choosing to side with parents. Lawmakers prefer to automatically label gender-curious children as transgender, ignoring the science.

Our children’s sexuality is a deeply private and sacred matter meant to be handled within the family unit. Our laws have protected this sanctity against predators and those who wish to exploit young minds. The state’s overreach into this domain is not just alarming but a direct assault on parental rights and family integrity.

Studies show that up to 94 percent of childhood gender dysphoria cases resolve naturally with puberty. Despite this, the proposed legislation would affirm a mental health condition, mandate parental acceptance, and pave the way for dangerous medical interventions without parental knowledge. These interventions include puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone therapy, and irreversible surgeries that can cause permanent infertility and lifelong health complications. Additionally, these treatments are associated with a 20% increase in suicide rates among those who undergo them.

Ward’s rhetoric frames parental notification as a "forced outing," a manipulative tactic intended to malign and mislead voters, insinuating that parents pose a danger to their children. This deliberate narrative provides cover for potential groomers in our schools and represents a lawless attempt to usurp parental authority.

The harm of keeping parents in the dark is immeasurable. Only radicals would argue that the state should replace parents in making crucial decisions about their children’s health that could affect them for a lifetime.  

The radicals in Sacramento have shown themselves as adversaries of parents and taxpayers. It’s time for parents to stand up, make their voices heard, and vote out those who support this dangerous legislation.

California’s families deserve better than to be pawns in a political game aimed at eroding parental rights and transforming the state’s cultural and political landscape. Schools should never promote secrecy from parents. Children belong to their families, and families must remain the central unit of care and decision-making.

AB 2641 would have ended sanctuary protections for illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes against minors

A California lawmaker who tried to force a vote Tuesday on a bill that would have ended sanctuary protections for illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes against minors had his microphone cut off before the legislation was kicked aside. 

Assemblyman Bill Essayli motioned to force a vote on AB 2641 in an effort to force state Democrats to go on the record. The bill would have repealed provisions of a state law that prohibits local authorities from participating in federal immigration enforcement, including banning officers from asking someone about their immigration status and informing immigration authorities about when a suspect is due to be released from local police custody.

On Tuesday, Essayli attempted to introduce the bill in Sacramento before his microphone was cut off in the Democratic-dominated chamber. 

Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Jim Wood, a Democrat, quickly cut Essayli off. 

"Stop. Stop. Stop," Wood said. "You went beyond making a motion. You started to go into debate. You can make the motion, but you cannot talk about… the motion will be nondebatable." A motion was then made to suspend the rules for a vote on the bill, which failed 13-36. 

"Every single Democrat voted against it," Essayli told Fox News Digital. "They're so out of touch and tone-deaf. They really feel like they can do whatever they want and there's nothing anyone can do to them. They don't care."

"You cannot get a clear answer out of them about why we should not deport child sex predators," he added. 

"They don't want to justify or explain why they're protecting pedophiles from deportation."

Fox News Digital has reached out to the California Democratic Party about its stance on the bill.

The vote effectively killed the bill, Essayli said, noting that all bills have to be passed in the Assembly by the end of the week.

Essayli previously told Fox News Digital that he was inspired to seek a legislative fix to California's immigration policies by a recent case in which a Colombian citizen convicted of sex crimes in California was arrested in Massachusetts by immigration agents. The suspect was released from a jail in California, but the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office didn't notify ICE of the impending release because of state laws.

[An Act for America Alumni] Dalila Epperson, a Republican who is challenging Democratic Assemblywoman Dawn Addis, said state Democrats want California to be a refuge for illegal immigrants. 

"This is their stand and they are choosing this hill to die on," she told Fox News Digital. "Gavin Newsom wants it to be a sanctuary state for abortion and illegal aliens. He wants to provide free health care for them, free school. They can't be deported for any reason whatsoever."

Essayli's attempt to force a vote came after AB 2641 was refused a hearing in the Democratic-dominated Assembly Public Safety Committee. The committee came under fire last year when it initially blocked a bill that would have made human trafficking of children a serious felony.

It eventually reversed course after outcry from the public and Democratic leaders, including Newsom.

"They don't want to give Republicans a platform. They're just going to oppose it out of politics," Essayli said. "They're like, ‘We’re never going to let a Republican pass anything here.' They do this thing where they just keep their head in the sand, and they don't respond, and they think it's just going to go away."

Worse, they shamefully coerced innocent 5th graders to be accomplices to their gender fluidity mission by making them share the book and video with kindergartners that included an exercise in illustrating and coloring their shadows. The teacher lied to a local parent when questioned about why he wasn’t notified and why they subjected children to a book encouraging gender confusion; the teacher claimed the book had “nothing to do with gender” and was simply a book exploring “colors and shadows.” 

This book serves only to confuse, brainwash, and groom children to question their gender. It pits a masculine father against his son, who has a pink shadow who loves ponies, pink toys, princesses, fairies, and things not for boys. The shadow also “loves wearing dresses and dancing around. It spins, it sparkles, and it twirls through the air, then stops when my dad walks in with a glare.”

The father is presented as the antagonist until he embraces his son's gender confusion and declares, "It's not just a shadow, it's your innermost you” and “Your shadow is YOU and pink it will be, so stand with your shadow and yell THIS IS ME!"

Other quotes from the book include “her shadow, she hides it, her shadow likes girls” and “We've all had a shadow that's hidden from eyes, sometimes our shadow lives in disguise,” encouraging children to hide their inner self from their parents!

Gender confusion, dysmorphia, and other related diagnoses are serious psychological disorders that cause emotional pain and suffering, including suicide, and should never be encouraged or treated so carelessly; it requires medically trained experts to evaluate and treat them.

When addressing the Board, remember to direct your comments to them, not to the parents in attendance. Assume the Board is unaware of the specific complaint you are raising. This approach allows you to present your concerns clearly and gives the Board the chance to respond and take corrective action. Avoid accusing the Board of complicity or conspiracy, even if you believe there is wrongdoing; doing so could create unnecessary adversaries. Allow the Board to act as problem solvers and heroes.

Earlier this year, the Lakeside School Board voted in favor of parental rights to notification within a 72-hour period when a child receives counseling that involves questions on gender identity. Lakeside is one of at least 5 districts that passed a policy to notify parents this year.

Andrew Hayes is spearheading a coalition of educators and parents to counteract new state mandates that, according to him, diminish parental involvement in their child's education. This coalition already has the support of school districts in Grossmont, Home Valley, Lakeside, and Rancho Santa Fe. We will be working closely to support this coalition effort and see parental rights policy widely adopted in San Diego and statewide in the months to come.

Hayes is set to present a "Parents Bill of Rights" to the district, advocating for notifications on various aspects of a child's education and well-being. Concerns include a recent state law allowing 12-year-olds to be referred to mental health services without parental notification.

The proposed bill encompasses notification of curriculum changes, books, and an opt-out clause for inappropriate content, along with being informed about bullying, suicidal intent, sexual transitioning, and requiring written parental permission for medication administration.

“Sacramento this last year signed a law that said 12-year-olds can be referred to mental health services without parental notification, that’s ridiculous,” Hayes said.

Hayes believes that parental consent is crucial, opposing the notion that the government should replace parents' voices. This initiative aims to address frustrations over California's education policies and curriculum, fostering a collaborative effort among school board members to develop a Parent's Bill of Rights.

San Diego is the 2nd largest city in California and the 8th largest in the country, holding a lot of power for change!

Every four years, a window opens in California politics. There is a little-known opportunity to shake up the status quo and to change the leadership and direction of the state’s political parties.

Maybe it’s time for that to happen in the California Republican Party.

There are 5,236,952 registered Republican voters in California, according to the secretary of state’s latest report of voter registration. That’s a dismal 23.8% of the registered voters in the state, but it’s still a lot of people. Probably 600 of them, organized in small groups statewide, could take control of the California Republican Party.

The legislative session that just ended saw an unchecked Democratic political machine with supermajority control of the Legislature ram through a wish list of destructive political priorities, including a double-barreled attack on the taxpayer protections in Proposition 13. Democrats who had presented themselves to voters as “moderate” voted in lockstep with far-left “progressives” who would be on anyone’s shortlist for president of the Karl Marx fan club.

The remains of the California Republican Party in the Legislature mostly watched from the sidelines. The GOP holds just eight seats of 40 in the state Senate and only 18 of 80 in the Assembly.

This may be due in part to Proposition 14, the 2010 measure that abolished party primaries in state legislative and congressional races. Since 2012, all candidates for these offices have been on the same ballot. The two candidates who receive the most votes in the primary advance to the general election, regardless of party affiliation or lack thereof. This led to a decline in fundraising for Republican candidates as big donors and political action committees calculated that supporting “moderate” Democrats was a sophisticated chess move that would protect their pieces on the board.

The California Republican Party gradually grew weaker and more irrelevant. And that had consequences for the entire state.

“The weakness of the Republican Party has let the Democratic Party, I think, go get further out than I think the majority of people want,” Gov. Jerry Brown observed in a 2018 interview with NPR. He wasn’t wrong. So many people moved out of the state that after the 2020 Census and redistricting, California lost a congressional seat for the first time in its history.

Brown told NPR he sees “plenty of opportunity for Republicans.” But many Republicans who are active in California politics will tell you that the California Republican Party never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

While the party puts little or no effort into winning elections for statewide and state legislative offices, a great deal of effort is put into winning various votes at the state party conventions, like the one that opens Friday in Anaheim. Frenetic efforts to collect proxies and wrangle delegates keep consultants very busy, all in the service of maintaining control of the party’s machinery, endorsements, and money.

A momentary threat to this control emerged about 10 years ago when supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul very nearly took over the Republican Party of Los Angeles County. In the end, those who held the reins of power eked out a victory by promising to pay off the county party’s $1 million debt, but only if the current establishment kept control through the election of its preferred candidate for chairman. That’s what happened.

What would happen if the playbook of the self-described Liberty Caucus was deployed statewide by frustrated California Republicans, the people who hang up on the CAGOP’s fundraising calls, but not before yelling that the party isn’t going to see another dime until it starts trying to win elections in this state.

What’s in that playbook?

The Liberty Caucus targeted seats on the Republican Party Central Committee. These offices are on the ballot only during the primary election in presidential election years because that’s now the only time voters receive a party-specific ballot. Only registered Republicans can vote or run for the Republican Central Committee seats. By law, candidates cannot have been registered with any other political party in the previous 12 months.

To try to take over the L.A. County party, the Liberty Caucus leaders persuaded supporters to run for Central Committee seats and then campaigned for their “slate” of candidates. There are seven seats in each Assembly district. All the candidates’ names appear on a page in the primary ballot and voters are asked to “vote for any seven.”

Some central committees are elected within the county supervisorial districts and some in the Assembly districts. Some have seven seats, and some have six. But they all have one thing in common: the filing period opens on Friday, Sept. 29, and it closes on Friday, Dec. 8.

To run for a Central Committee seat, contact your county elections office to “pull papers,” collect about 40 valid signatures of registered voters eligible to vote in that election, file the papers back with the county, and that’s it. There is no filing fee because there is no salary. As long as you raise or spend less than $2,000 on your campaign, you are not required to file any campaign reports or statements.

Central Committee members attend monthly meetings and state conventions, and they determine whether party resources will be used to help Republican candidates win in California, or not.

“Not” has been the prevailing choice for quite a while. The result has been the total loss of checks and balances in the California government. One party has absolute power. And you know what they say about that.
