Abolishing the Department of Education: A Critical Necessity
Conservative policymakers have long criticized the U.S. Department of Education, arguing that its centralized authority undermines parental and state control of education. Since its creation in 1979 under President Jimmy Carter, the department has been labeled a costly failure, unable to achieve its stated goals despite decades of effort and ever-increasing budgets.
A Failed Experiment
As federal control over education expanded, the results have been catastrophic. Testing scores have steadily declined, global proficiency rankings have plummeted, and public trust in the system has eroded. In stark reality, only 26% of eighth graders perform at or above grade-level proficiency. The growing disconnect between funding and results highlights the system’s inefficiency. Federal spending per student rose from $11,221 in 1979 (adjusted for inflation) to $17,700 in 2023, yet student performance has stagnated or declined.
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reports that 13-year-olds recently scored their lowest math proficiency levels in over 30 years. Similarly, the number of high school seniors who did not read a single book for pleasure nearly quadrupled between 1976 and 2021—tragic! These statistics paint a grim picture of a system that fails to prepare students for a competitive and increasingly globalized world.
A Bureaucratic Overreach
Critics argue that the Department of Education prioritizes bureaucratic interests over student success. Despite contributing only 9% of overall education funding, the federal government controls 90% of education policies, stifling local and state innovation. Former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has called for its closure, stating, “We spent over $1 trillion...and we’ve gotten nothing but worse results.” She advocates redirecting federal funds directly to parents through block grants, empowering them to choose the best educational options for their children.
The department has also faced backlash for imposing controversial social policies, including promoting gender ideology and critical race theory (CRT) in curricula and forgoing grades or discriminating based on skin tone when grading in the name of race equity. Some school systems stooped as low as segregating students by skin tone in the name of DEI.
Ensuring Safeguards in a Decentralized System
Dismantling the department raises concerns about potential disparities among states. Critics worry that blue states may adopt radicalized policies that could undermine national unity and educational standards. Some propose legislative safeguards to prevent this, ensuring baseline standards that preserve American identity and historical accuracy while banning DEI, CRT, Social Justice Activist Training, All Ages Comprehensive Sex Education, Gender Fluidity, the 1619 Project, Parental Rights Violations, Gender and Sexual Orientation Counseling, Planned Parenthood education programs, and more.
While the task of decentralizing education is immense, it offers an opportunity to lift up America’s children and secure the nation’s future while stripping power from the teacher unions, which have promoted a Marxist agenda in government schools for far too long.

A major city in my state elected a democrat Chinese woman as their mayor. I have no idea if she is an American one nation under God advocate or the current godless leader the democrats have been producing. She has been very effective in doing what democrat leaders have done to many cities and the states they rule, the city is running a deficit and can not pay their bills. Yet she just got a $30,000 per year pay raise. Imagine that. Getting paid for running her city toward bankruptcy. That's what the godless socialist/communist do best, enrich themselves while destroying others. So I'd imagine she is godless. That same problem is in our educational system in many parts of the nation. When we use godless methods of teaching our children, the results are godlessness and pathetic. I think of the Le LaLev orphanage in Netanya, Israel. They take in children who lost any hope of having a life at a very early age and begin working with them and leading them to a walk with God along with love and a good education. Their children have become Dr's, nurses, psychologists, social workers, business women, and other professional people, wives and mothers. The very people so many hate, the Jews, and yet they can take an orphan and special needs children which are a bruised and crushed reed and turn them into a beautiful person who has the love of God and a hope for a better life, while we are destroying our children because we wanted to get rid of God from our nation. Lets do it our way, we'll build back better and stronger. What a farce. If it were not for those who are still seeking God in our nation, we'd be in total collapse. Guess all our American idols haven't spared us from running our nation into the pit. Idols have no power. At the same time, years ago I was taking to a Methodist preacher and told him what your doing doesn't get souls saved, your just playing religion. He got mad and said I know that, but its what the people want so its what I give them. In 2021 a Methodist preacher prayed before the legislature in the name of the hindu false god brahma, a cow! Earlier this year the Methodist voted almost unanimously to ordain lgbtq ministers. I've warned them for years they are going into apostacy, but it constantly fell on deaf ears. They mixed their worship of God with the worship of false gods which is committing spiritual adultery upon the one true God. You can not serve 2 masters. That's just 1 of the protestant denominations that have gone apostate. Had a non denominational preacher declare that it makes him mad when someone says we should live by the Torah. Really, the Torah is God's instruction on how we are to live and what will happen if we refuse to live accordingly. Jesus lived and taught the Torah as well as the entire OT. He said not 1 dot of the law would be changed before He returned and if you love Me you will keep my commandments (Torah instruction included). Its time we return to the word of God and restore our nation in order that He will bring healing to our land.
