Conservative voters united in support of AG Ken Paxton.
Denounce House Impeachment as a political hit job.
The Texas State House of Representatives recently approved a resolution that sent shockwaves through the state of Texas, calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton. This momentous decision now places the fate of Paxton's tenure in the hands of a conservative state senate and a board of managers led by Rep. Andrew Murr, a Republican from Junction. The board of managers, consisting of five Democrats and seven Republicans, will be responsible for overseeing the impeachment proceedings.
Christine, the entire impeachment process was highly irregular. It's been reported that certain members of the house led by opposition leaders secretly investigated, at most, for 8 weeks. We didn’t see an impeachment committee empaneled, we didn’t hear any testimony under oath, saw no sworn declarations, and not a single question directed to the Speaker was answered with confidence.
Rep. Brian Harrison of District 10 posted an official public statement immediately following the vote, stating, “Less than 48 hours ago, and with no warning, we had a resolution containing twenty articles of impeachment literally dropped on our desks along with nothing more than a transcript of one single public hearing. Most of these allegations have been being litigated in the criminal justice system for many years, and yet not a shred of anything even closely approximating new and sufficient evidence has been presented to the body.”
“I am opposed to this resolution. Not because I am convinced of his innocence, but because the leadership of this body made no legitimate attempt to adequately document his guilt nor to demonstrate to my satisfaction that this is anything other than a sham railroading of a political enemy,” Rep. Harrison concluded.
